Apex Chisomo School

It all started when…

At 18 years old, Mirriam knew her calling and didn’t want to waste any time fulfilling it. So she asked her father if he would help her start a school for the children in her community. Hesitantly, he told her she could use one room in their house as a test run of her “school idea.” Throughout the course of the year, Mirriam’s father was convinced of both her passion and commitment to teaching children and he helped formally register the school the next year.

From humble beginnings in 2006 with 7 students in a spare room of their house to now hosting two locations with 9 different classrooms, Apex Chisomo has definitely grown to new heights.  Mirriam says what sets them apart is how well they take care of their students and their commitment to high standards.

Mirriam has not stopped dreaming for her school.  She dreams of building a Library, setting up a computer lab, offering foreign language classes, and much more.  She wants to see each of her 148 students achieve greater things.

The name Apex Chisomo means upgraded grace.  Mirriam says, “It’s by God’s grace alone that we can go anywhere.  And with His grace, each child will achieve something.”

Apex Chisomo School joined Impact One’s programs in January 2022. They are one of 12 community schools learning together in the Chikondano Network. We are blessed to walk alongside Mirriam and Apex Chisomo as they continue living out their dreams and upgrading each and every child to a brighter future.
