This Impact Story was written by one of our School Administrators in their latest grant report. We wanted you to read firsthand the impact that your support can have on the children in our partner schools. Enjoy... and find more from Whitney below this story.
IMPACT STORY FROM FLYING ANGELS SCHOOL
Let's look at Jessie.
She is a grade 5 pupil at Flying Angels. She has been at this school since her Grade 3. Jessie loves to play and have fun both in and outside school. Her parents are business people; hence, they do not have time to take care of her before they knock off at 17 {leave work at 5pm}. Hence, she is always home alone after school for 2 years now. Can you imagine?!
This though is a story of the past because thanks to Impact One, the school has built 2 extra classrooms to ensure that Jessie can now be in school from morning to 16 hours doing what she loves most. That is learning and having fun. Her attendance and that of her other classmates has improved. The only thing remaining is to finish one classroom and build one extra one so that Jessie and her classmates will receive maximum teacher attention and quality learning.
Thank you Impact One!
Before this year, Flying Angels School had insufficient space for all of their students. Because of this, they ran a "split-schedule" where students were only in school for half of the day. This meant that the students only had a few hours of learning, and spent the rest of the day wandering the community or at home unsupervised. These shorter days affected Jessie's education and her safety. But as you saw in the story above, this is now a thing of the past! With a brand new classroom funded by Impact One's Grant Program, Flying Angels has adjusted their entire school's schedule to a FULL DAY of learning.
Jessie's new classroom is just one achievement from this year's Grant Program. We have also supplied other partner schools with the following resources:
- 389 textbooks
- 9 computers and 2 printers
- 4 cabinets and 1 teacher's desk
- And much more!
Although we've met a lot of needs this year, there are still many more within our schools. Flying Angels has requested for another grant to place a roof on the classroom pictured below. Once completed, this will be the new First Grade Class. Currently, they are sharing a room with the Second Graders and it gets a little snug! (See the sweet smiles below).
Donations make all of our programs possible! When you choose to give, your money is used to meet the most pressing needs of our partner schools - which includes building walls and roofs of new classrooms, stocking those rooms with desks and books, and training the teachers to effectively deliver the curriculum. When you sign up as a monthly sponsor, you can help ensure that both our Training and Grant Programs will continue at Flying Angels School so that Jessie and the entire First and Second Grade class can have a quality education. Join us in giving children hope and a future through quality education!
