Diana is a shy, quiet 13-year-old student who has been learning at Joy Grace Christian Community School for the past 2 years. Due to her reserved nature, sometimes she just goes quiet when speaking. But last year, Teacher Caroline noticed Diana was too afraid to even open her mouth in class. Diana explains that her fear and embarrassment came because most of the other children in her class could read, but she couldn't.
Through our training program and weekly mentoring, Teacher Caroline began to use Jolly Phonics to teach her students literacy. The impact this has had on Diana in the past year is clear to see: her face lights up, and she enthuses about how she can now read aloud to the whole class.
“Even if it’s just small words, at least I can read now in front of the class and I want to read everything.”
What a wonderful transformation for Diana!
With her newfound ability to read and communicate in class, Diana’s future is looking bright.
