All around the world, our lives have been upended by the coronavirus. It’s been stressful, scary, exhausting, and confusing. (Just to name a few of the emotions I have felt in the last few months). But with schools in Zambia reopening to their 7th grade classes last week, we are back to work giving children life-changing educational opportunities.
Last week, while distributing reading books and cleaning supplies to all of our partner schools, we began to survey the challenges they are facing with reopening during the pandemic. This week we are following up with support. Take a look at each staff member's plans.
Challenge: Students are struggling to understand fractions.
Solution: Marissa prepared a lesson that she will model teach in all of the schools.
Challenge: Students are overwhelmed with the amount of work to prepare for their national exams in December.
Solution: Chibwe will introduce fun educational games and activities from our Center to lessen the stress and enhance the learning.
Challenge: Because of the current economic crisis, only one or two students have paid their fees thus far. How will we pay our teachers, pay our rent, and even buy clean water?
Solution: Precious is helping each School Director identify potential partners and develop proposals to request for outside support during this time.
This is how we impact lives. We listen to the challenges our schools are facing, and work together to develop solutions so that children can receive an education that prepares them for a brighter future, even in the midst of a pandemic!

Coronavirus may have shaken things up, but it hasn't stopped us from making an impact. Thank you for supporting us as we navigate this pandemic together.
